DAVE PIKE Doors Of Perception
THE DOORS OF PERCEPTION
"The Doors of Perception"
was released by the Atlantic subsidiary Vortex in 1970
This album marks the move from Pike's earlier straight ahead style
to what became his most imaginative period delving into soul music
which Atlantic Records was a key player in at the time
and more commercial pop arrangements, as well as
searching out a more experimental style.
One cut in particular from this album, "The Drifter"
foreshadowed Pike's next few years which were spent in Germany
